IMAGE OF THE MONTH

AUGUST 2017

Wren in the heather

This image was taken at my new woodland hide which was specifically chosen for the abundance of heather and natural light.  I was sitting waiting for the squirrels to arrive when this gorgeous little wren made an appearance and perched itself on the broken branch of a fallen tree.  I could not believe it as they normally just flit about the site in a flash diving quickly for cover.   I did not want to spook it and carefully positioned my camera slowly in it’s direction.  It stayed on the perch for about 10 seconds but did not sit still for a second, constantly bobbing and moving on the perch.   As the heather was out in full bloom it made for the perfect shot as it framed the image perfectly with a stunning splash of colour.
