Male Stonechat in warm evening light
I really love the stonechats, they are such dedicated parents, and work tireless from morning until dusk feeding their hungry little chicks. The stonechat is named for its call, which sounds just like two small stones being hit together! Once you have heard it, there is no mistaking it. It can frequently be seen sitting on the top of gorse bushes, flicking its wings.
