Fields of Gold

Although the female stonechat does not have the same striking plumage as the male.  I just absolutely loved the stunning, golden yellow of the gorse as the backdrop.  The stonechats would perch on top of these dried grasses before diving down into the field to go foraging for a meal for it’s chicks, with great success every time.  The pair of stonechats were thoroughly enjoyable and gave me great pleasure to watch over the summer months.  I now eagerly await the return of the shorebirds coming back from their summer breeding grounds.
