Last Light
Another summer passes where the weather was less than ideal to photograph the gannets at Troup Head, once again it appears to be better conditions at the end of the summer with stronger winds coming from the right direction and clearer skies. Plenty adult gannets about but noticeably not as many chicks being reared as I have seen in previous years. Possibly due to the hot dry summer?
After a fantastic day photographing and videoing the gannets, it was looking hopeful for a sunset so it was time to position myself to get the gannets soaring in the skies in front of the setting sun. As usual there was the stubborn cloud building from the west so you don’t have long before you lose the last of the stunning light. Thankfully there was enough obliging gannets flying high enough to capture their silhouettes against the stunning sunset.
