IMAGE OF THE MONTH

OCTOBER 2025

Copper and Gold from Above

For my autumnal image this year, I knew it had to be a wide panorama captured from the drone, a perspective that reveals the full sweep of the landscape. The forest was alive with contrast: silver birch and larch trees glowing in their striking autumn colours, woven among the steadfast green of the pines.

The day itself was a gift. With no wind to disturb the surface, the loch became a perfect mirror, doubling the spectacle of colour in its still reflections. The warmth was unseasonable, a gentle reminder of autumn’s unpredictability. At this point, the season was only beginning to unfold, the colours had not yet reached their peak, but within a week the transformation was complete, and the brilliance lingered well into November.

This panorama captures not only the beauty of the moment, but also the anticipation of autumn’s crescendo, a fleeting harmony between light, colour, and stillness
