IMAGE OF THE MONTH

October 2024

Carpet of autumnal colour

I aim to spend at least a week each year capturing the autumn colour, the gamble is always to work out when the colour will be at it’s peak.  Too early and not enough colour has changed, too late and the leaves might be blown off the trees.  This year I feel I got it about right.

There are a number of locations I visit each autumn as I’m always looking to improve on my images from previous years, hoping for better light or improved compositions.  I feel totally inspired at this location and spend hours searching out different compositions.  There is such a variety of trees in this small corner of forest. From the Sweet Chestnut, Beech, Rowan, Silver Birch and Oak to name a few.  I love the carpet of colour created when I walk through the forest.  No doubt I will be back next autumn.
