IMAGE OF THE MONTH

JANUARY 2026

The Fog Circle

2026 has taken off quite literally with this breathtaking aerial capture.  One quiet morning, as the mist clung to the coastline and the light softened into a gentle hush, I sent my drone into the sky hoping, as always, to witness something extraordinary. What unfolded through the screen was beyond anything I’d anticipated: a full fog circle, ethereal and complete, encircling a Brocken spectre at its heart. From the ground, this would have appeared as a fog bow half an arc, ghostly and pale. But from above, the drone revealed the full phenomenon: a rare and haunting spectacle that felt like nature whispering a secret.

I captured the scene using the 180-degree panoramic feature, stitching together 21 images to form a single, sweeping composition. The result is an image that feels almost otherworldly mist drifting over the land, the coastline bathed in soft morning light, and the fog circle glowing with quiet intensity.

Moments like these are rare. They arrive without warning, and they vanish just as quickly. As I hovered above the landscape, I knew I had to try to preserve it not just the visual, but the feeling. The stillness. The awe. The sense of being suspended between worlds.

This image is one I’ll always cherish. It’s a reminder of why I do what I do: to chase light, to listen to the land, and to share the fleeting beauty that lives in the spaces between.

After witnessing a moment like this, I’m excited to discover what other wonders 2026 has in store.
