Gannet in the Spotlight

Troup Head, East Coast, Scotland

Description

Taken at the beautiful east coast location at Troup Head.  The more times you visit a location you get to understand the species behavior.  Where they locate themselves along the coastline and when the best time to visit due to the weather conditions, so you do not want a windless, blue sky day, that’s for sunning yourself on the beach.

This bird was on it’s own perched on the ledge peering out to sea.  What caught my attention was the way the light was cutting across it due to the angle of the setting sun.  I just love the striking contrast of the birds white plumage surrounded in the dark shadows and I always love their piercing eyes.
