Independent Thistle
After a long but enjoyable day photographing the gannets at the RSPB reserve at Troup Head on the East Coast of Scotland. We waited to see if there would be any opportunity of photographing a sunset but unfortunately we could see a bank of cloud building up on the horizon so decided to head home on the 2 hour journey. When walking through the barley field to get back to the car park, I noticed this solitary creeping thistle standing out in amongst the barley field, although tired, I just had to get a photo as I thought it was such a striking contrast between the soft barley field and the dark, spiny thistle.
