My Journey as a Nature Photographer

Born and raised in the picturesque town of Inverness in the Scottish Highlands, I have always been fascinated by wildlife and derived immense pleasure from observing their behaviour in the wild. My connection with nature deepened when I picked up a camera for the first time, and it was then that I truly began to appreciate the diverse landscapes and rich wildlife that inhabit my homeland.

My goal is to capture the essence of the wildlife that thrives in the rugged and harsh environment of northern Scotland. I am equally passionate about photographing the stunning landscapes that these creatures call home. This dual focus allows me to tell a comprehensive story of life in the wild, highlighting the intricate relationship between wildlife and their habitats.

Patience and perseverance are essential in my pursuit to capture the behavior and movement of wildlife, as these creatures are rarely still. Over the years, I have honed my skills through careful observation, which now allows me to almost anticipate their next move and seize the perfect moment for an image.

In addition to still photography, I also create videos to showcase the dynamic behavior of animals, often finding this medium more effective in conveying their stories. Time-lapse videos have become a delightful and innovative way for me to capture dramatic moments, adding variety to my work and keeping my passion alive.

A significant portion of my work is dedicated to one of my favorite locations, the Cairngorms National Park. This breathtaking region offers endless opportunities for exploration and photography, providing a never-ending source of inspiration.

Achievements in Wildlife Photography

I am honoured to have received recognition in the prestigious British Wildlife Photography Awards. In 2013, I achieved a significant milestone with a winning image in the Habitat category, showcasing the intricate beauty of wildlife within their natural surroundings. Additionally, my work was highly commended in the Behaviour category the same year, highlighting my dedication to capturing the dynamic actions and interactions of wildlife.

In 2014, I continued to build on this success, with another image receiving high commendation in the Behaviour category. These accolades have fuelled my passion for wildlife photography, inspiring me to further refine my skills and continue exploring the fascinating world of animal behavior and their environments.
