A return to Arkle

On this day, we returned to my favourite hill to photograph, Arkle, nestled in the stunning Sutherland region of the Northwest Highlands. The sky was a canvas of spectacular clouds, swirling and forming over the mountain top, creating a dramatic backdrop.

I patiently waited for a break in the clouds, hoping for that perfect moment when the light would illuminate parts of the mountainside. Although the light didn’t highlight the reeds in Loch Stack as I had hoped, it gave me another reason to return.

Next autumn, I’ll be back, eager to see what new weather conditions will present themselves and what unique scenes I can capture. Each visit to Arkle offers a fresh perspective and endless opportunities for breathtaking photography.
