Mountain Hare in the spotlight

It has been an exceptionally snowless January for as long as I can remember.  This leaves the mountain hare extremely vulnerable to predation from golden eagles as they are so exposed in their white winter pelage against the dark heather.  So great care must be taken during these conditions not to disturb them unnecessarily.   The light was particularly good on this day instead of the usual grey cloud and the hares were enjoying the warmth from the winter sun as was I. I particularly like the way the light has fallen on the scene and placed the hare firmly in the spotlight.
