Evening storm approaching

Balnakeil Beach, near Durness, Scotland

Description

I had not visited this beach before so was somewhere new to explore. As the evening light was beginning to warm up it was time to seek out a composition in the hope of a stunning sunset.  I wanted to incorporate the marram grasses into the composition as they are a fundamental part of the location.  As the storm approached the clouds built up and the sky grew dark, I love how the light has just light up the small section of clouds adding contrast to the brooding, imposing darker clouds.

I swiftly took this image and moved my composition 20yards further up to the left of this image as another shot was developing looking out to sea, I made this my Image of the Month for February.
